Heading Home

I’m now at Jacksonville airport, starting my journey back to the UK. I’m pretty exhausted and for once very glad to be heading home.

This tour is done – 49 shows in the USA and Canada; if you include the European run, it’s 70 shows on the trot. This year, I’ve done 194 shows (73 of them with two slipped discs in my back). I’ve got one left (with Billy in London). We’ve played in 22 countries – the UK, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, China, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Canada and the USA – 29 states: MA, NY, CA, TX, CO, PA, MD, NJ, OH, WI, IN, TN, RI, ME, VT, MI, IA, NE, UT, NV, WA, OR, IL, MO, AL, FL, GA, NC, and VA.

We played 20 festivals – South by Southwest, Byron Bay, Groezrock, Podersdorf Surf, Dauwpop, Bonnaroo, Southside, Hurricane, Bravalla, Ottawa Blues, Toronto Urban Roots, Two Thousand Trees, T in the Park, Poolbar, Jarocin, Newport Folk, Osheaga, Jurassic Rock, Reading, and Leeds. The biggest show of the year was Reading Festival. The smallest was at my nephew’s primary school in Lancaster.

And that’s me done for the year. Thanks to the Sleeping Souls – Nigel, Ben, Matt, Tarrant, and honorary extra members Dan and Cahir; to Casey, Graham, Jovka, Eric, Tre, Dougie, Shaun, Greg and the rest of the crew; to all the bands we’ve shared stages with this year, including The Dropkick Murphys, The Architects, Beans On Toast, Larry & His Flask, George Frakes, Ben Marwood, Off With Their Heads, Die Toten Hosen, Lucero, Jon Allen, The Smith Street Band and Koo Koo Kanga Roo; and of course to everyone who came to the shows.

I’m going to put my feet up when I get home.

Charity Show For Shelter With Billy Bragg

Pleased to announce that I’ll be playing a special fundraising show alongside Billy Bragg for the housing and homelessness charity Shelter on 18th December.

With the onset of winter and the fact that, this Christmas there will be 80,000 children in Britain without a proper home, the essential work they do is even more crucial and Billy and I hope you’ll support us in this.

Shelter is a charity close to my heart, I donated all proceeds of the FTHC flag to help the cause, so this show means a lot to me.

The double headline show will take place at Wilton’s Music Hall in Shadwell, London.

There’s only a limited amount of tickets and we want to make it fair to everyone wanting to get in. A link will be posted to a musicglue page at 4pm on Monday 18th November that will allow you to register your interest in buying a ticket.

Names will then be drawn randomly from the list and those who have scored a ticket will be informed via direct email on Tuesday 26th November.

Stay tuned for the link and more details on next Monday!

‘Oh Brother’ Fan Video

If you’ve heard my song ‘Oh Brother’ and seen the video for it featuring my good buddy Ben Dawson, you’ll know it’s a bit of a sentimental old sop-fest. I’m hoping it tugged at your heartstrings and didn’t make you feel nauseous.

Having met a lot of you folks whilst on the road, I know how solid your connections are, and I want to celebrate that with a fan video showing the frolics you and your mates get up to.

It’s pretty easy, all you need to do is get your mate, or mates, and film yourself having a bit of a laugh. Post the end result to Instagram with the hashtag #FTHCohbrother and it share to Twitter so it can be tracked a little more easily.

Some of the best ones will be compiled in a new promo for ‘Oh Brother’ which will be forever cemented on my YouTube channel.

Looking forward to seeing some of your videos!
